Restore Strength and Beauty to Your Smile
A damaged, cracked, or missing tooth affects more than just your appearance. It changes how you eat, how you speak, and how you feel about yourself. Dental crowns and bridges are proven restorative solutions that bring back full function and aesthetics — and at our clinic in Playa del Carmen, you can have them placed at a fraction of what they cost in the United States or Canada.
With porcelain and zirconia crowns starting at just $489 USD, and complete 3-unit bridges from $1,200, our patients regularly save 70% or more compared to dental offices back home. Every crown and bridge is custom-crafted using premium materials and digital precision technology, backed by our written warranty.

Understanding Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its original shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are one of the most common restorative procedures in dentistry, and they serve multiple purposes.
When You Need a Crown
- After a root canal. Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy are more brittle and need the protection of a crown to prevent fracture.
- Large cavity or filling. When a cavity is too large for a standard filling, a crown provides the structural support the tooth needs.
- Cracked or fractured tooth. A crown holds the tooth together and prevents the crack from spreading.
- Worn-down teeth. Years of grinding (bruxism) can wear teeth down to stubs. Crowns restore the original height and function.
- Cosmetic improvement. A crown can completely change the appearance of a severely discolored, misshapen, or undersized tooth.
- Implant restoration. Every dental implant needs a crown as the visible, functional component of the replacement tooth.
Crown Material Options
We offer several crown materials, and our restorative team helps you choose the best option based on the tooth location, your bite forces, and your aesthetic goals.
Zirconia Crowns ($489-$560) Zirconia is the strongest crown material available today. It resists chipping and fracturing under heavy bite forces, making it ideal for back teeth (molars and premolars). Modern zirconia is also increasingly aesthetic, with translucency that approaches natural tooth enamel. This is our most popular option for patients who want the best combination of strength and appearance.
E-Max Porcelain Crowns ($489-$560) E-Max (lithium disilicate) crowns are the gold standard for front teeth where aesthetics are the top priority. The material has exceptional translucency that mimics natural enamel, creating a result that is virtually indistinguishable from a real tooth. While slightly less strong than zirconia, E-Max crowns are more than durable enough for front teeth and premolars.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) Crowns PFM crowns feature a metal substructure covered with porcelain. They offer good strength and reasonable aesthetics, though the metal base can sometimes create a dark line at the gum margin over time. We recommend PFM crowns less frequently now that full zirconia and E-Max options have become so advanced.
Understanding Dental Bridges
A dental bridge literally “bridges” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of artificial teeth (pontics) held in place by crowns attached to the natural teeth on either side of the gap.
Types of Bridges We Offer
Traditional Fixed Bridge. The most common type, using crowns on the two adjacent teeth (abutments) to support one or more artificial teeth in between. A 3-unit bridge (replacing one missing tooth) requires two supporting crowns and one pontic.
Cantilever Bridge. Used when there is only one natural tooth available for support, typically in areas with less bite pressure.
Implant-Supported Bridge. Instead of relying on natural teeth for support, this type uses dental implants as anchors. This is the strongest and most conservative option because it does not require modification of healthy adjacent teeth.

The Crown and Bridge Procedure at Our Clinic
We have streamlined our workflow to accommodate traveling patients who need efficient treatment without sacrificing quality.
Visit 1 — Preparation (Day 1)
Your first appointment includes a thorough examination, digital X-rays, and discussion of your treatment options. Once the plan is confirmed, we prepare the tooth (or teeth) by reshaping them to accommodate the crown. Digital impressions are taken — no messy putty trays — and sent electronically to our partner laboratory. Before you leave, we place a high-quality temporary crown so your smile looks complete during the fabrication period.
Fabrication Period (3-5 Days)
Our partner lab crafts your permanent crown or bridge using the digital files from your appointment. Because we work with a local lab, turnaround is significantly faster than what most US dentists offer. For travelers on a tight schedule, we can often expedite fabrication to 3 business days.
Visit 2 — Final Placement (Day 5-7)
You return for the placement of your permanent crown or bridge. We check the fit, bite alignment, and color match with meticulous care. Minor adjustments are made chairside until everything is perfect. The crown is then permanently cemented, and you leave with a fully restored smile.
Need it faster? For patients who cannot stay the full week, we offer same-day crown options using CEREC-style digital milling for select cases. Ask about availability during your consultation.

Why Our Crowns and Bridges Stand Out
Digital Precision. We use digital impression scanners that capture every contour of your prepared tooth in 3D. This eliminates the inaccuracy of traditional mold materials and produces crowns with a superior fit from the start.
Premium Lab Partnership. Our partner laboratory uses the latest CAD/CAM milling and finishing technology. Every crown is inspected for shade accuracy, marginal fit, and surface quality before it reaches your mouth.
Custom Color Matching. Our team takes detailed shade photographs under calibrated lighting to ensure your crown or bridge blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. We match not just the base color but also the translucency and surface characteristics that make a crown look real.
Written Warranty. We provide a written warranty on all crown and bridge work. Subject to annual dental check-ups, if your crown fails under normal use, we cover the replacement costs for both clinical and laboratory work.
Travel-Friendly Scheduling. We understand that dental tourists cannot afford lengthy delays. Our process is designed to complete most crown and bridge cases within 5-7 days, with expedited options available for tighter schedules.

Crowns vs. Veneers: Which Is Right for You?
Patients sometimes wonder whether they need a crown or a veneer. The answer depends on the condition of the tooth:
- Veneers cover only the front surface of a tooth and are primarily cosmetic. They are ideal for healthy teeth with aesthetic issues like discoloration, minor chips, or gaps.
- Crowns cover the entire tooth (360 degrees) and are both restorative and cosmetic. They are necessary when a tooth is structurally compromised — after a root canal, large cavity, or fracture.
If you are unsure which option is best for your situation, our team evaluates your teeth during the consultation and recommends the most appropriate treatment.
